Electric charging is no longer just a matter of plugging in a cable. Smart charging stations are part of a larger system: the energy network of the future. Recent news reports showing how easily some charging stations can be hacked during tests demonstrate that this security cannot be taken for granted. In several cases, hackers were able to bypass charging station security relatively quickly. In practice, this could allow malicious actors to see when users are home or away based on charging behaviour, or even use groups of charging stations to disrupt the energy infrastructure.

• Our chargers are equipped with tamper protection, immediately alerting users if unauthorised access to internal components is attempted.
• Our chargers support Over-the-Air updates, allowing the latest security patches to be deployed continuously and without user intervention, keeping systems protected against external threats.

Charging stations as part of the energy infrastructure

As charging points become smarter, they are evolving into a vital part of the energy infrastructure. Think of dynamic charging, load balancing and integration with solar panels or home batteries. This development calls for systems that are not only functional and sustainable, but also digitally robust.
